THE CALL OF ELIZEU

Pr. Manoel Barbosa da Silva

1 Kings 19:19
Of all the prophets of the Old Testament, one of the most prominent was certainly the prophet Elisha.Elijah was the son of a wealthy man named Shaphat, despite the wealth was a young and simple worker. His father was one of those who have not bowed to Baal, when the whole country was plunged into apostasy. In the house of the prophet Elijah Shaphat used to stay when their missionary trips around the country. There he saw the dedication that young man to spiritual things. It was under the guidance of God himself, who invited Elias to be his assistant and teaches him the office of prophet, that he would perform as well in the future. "And also the son of Elisha Shaphat of Abelmeholah, anoint prophet in your place." 1: Rs. 19. 16When Elisha received the call, symbolized by the cloak which was thrown in the back of the guest, he immediately accepted. Not asked as gain, nor what would be the advantages. He asked only that the prophet allowed it to go to his house, say goodbye to their parents.Elisha went home, took leave of their dear, returned, killed an ox team distributed the meat among their employees, made a headlight and the rest followed the prophet. The prophet when he received the call was not for nothing, was tilling the garden, with twelve yoke of oxen. This is an indication that we have that he was from a wealthy family. The main function of Elisha, from that day, he was taking care of the prophet. Humble service, who had been brought up in the midst of affluence. He played with pleasure while it watched the work of that great man and took him lessons that would be useful for the rest of his life, and for the good of God's people. When Elijah was already the end of his ministry, was revealed to Elisha, the prophet would be taken to see God without death. This revelation also had school students who drove Elias. Elisha was expecting. And Elijah wanting to spare him the split, told him: "here is you, for the Lord has sent me to Bethel." Elisha refused to stay. Three times Elijah tried to get away from him, however he did not agree."... they still went on and talked, behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire separated them from each other, and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven there. "Elisha saw it cried my father, my father, the chariot of Israel and the horsemen thereof. And I never saw him and took their dress up torn in twoThen up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and stood back up to the edge of the Jordan. "2. Rs 11-13 ".When Elisha touched the waters of Jordan with the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from the sky, they parted he then admitted that he was enabled to minister in place of another prophet. When you get home without the prophet Elijah, some did not believe that there had even been caught."And said unto them, behold, there be with thy servants fifty strong men, well, let them go looking for your lord may be that the spirit of the Lord had taken and released on some of the hills, or in some of the valleys. However he said. Shall not send ".But they shook him until constrained said: send. And they sent fifty men who sought for three days, however found none. Then he returned to Jericho: and he said unto them, not you said no fossils? "2. Rs. 2:16-18. "This must have been the worst experience of Elijah. Be questioned. There is no doubt that this was an unusual experience. Going out with someone for the woods, only to return wearing the clothes that person and say that it went to heaven in a chariot of fire, it is kind of hard to believe. However no one had reason to distrust him because there had always been loyal to Elijah and his honesty was foolproof.Insistently sent fifty men to look for the corpse of Elias that they judged to be somewhere. But the search was in vain. The Bible does not give details, but it gives us to imagine what some people began to say regarding this case:- You saw what happened with the prophet Elijah? Suddenly disappeared. Says his secretary, he was taken to heaven in a chariot of fire. Do you believe?-Does not have an evil to him? Have you ever seen someone climb into the sky so suddenly? What is certain is that fifty men left in their quest for three days and tried to get tired. The doubt raised about the prophet, made some guys lose respect for him. As some without cause, began to suspect him, the boys felt free to do the same and disrespect."And he went up from there to Bethel; going it along the way, some small boys came out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto them, Go up bald. Go up bald! And he turned back, he saw them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord, then, two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of them. 2 Kgs. 2.23,24. "What they wanted was to force Elijah to rise to heaven too. It was a criticism to the words of the man of God. It was as if to say - as he climbed dissertes, you'll have to climb too. If not for the divine protection, they may do an evil to Elisha. With that divine intervention never anyone dared to mock a servant of God.
Lessons
a) Just as God called the prophet Elisha, he calls you and me.There is still need men and women willing to carry forward the work of God
b) those who wish to achieve great things must learn to be faithful in small things. "The lesson is for everyone. No one can know what is the purpose of God in their discipline, but everyone can be certain that faithfulness in small things is evidence of fitness for greater responsibilities "" ... who feels not is of no consequence to how he performs the smaller tasks proves himself unfit for a more honorable. " PR. 218.
c) The work of God is all noble work that is done with love and goodwill. "Success depends not so much on talent as on energy and willingness. It is not the possession of splendid talents that enables us to provide acceptable service, but the conscientious performance of daily duties, the contented spirit, and unaffectedly sincere interest in the welfare of others. In the humblest sort can be found true excellence. The commonest tasks, wrought with loving faithfulness, are beautiful in God's sight. "
d) "The ministry comprises more than preaching the word. It means educating young educated as Elijah Elisha "" ... ("Pg. 222".) ... "The mother who trains her children for Christ, is working as truly as the minister in the pulpit. "(Pg. 219.)".
e) 'The missing reveres youth who mocked Elisha, is a grace that must be carefully cherished. Every child should be taught to show true reverence for God. Never should your name be spoken lightly or thoughtlessly. Angels pronounce that name to cover his face. With what reverence should we, who are fallen and sinful, take it on the lips. "Pg.236.

f) The Reverence also involves the parents and leaders of the church. "You should show reverence by the representatives of God. - Pastors, teachers, and parents, who are called to speak and act in his place. In that respect they show God is honored. " Ditto. 237
g) The young people who were eaten by bears the blame for many of them died, were the parents themselves. For many doubted the words of Elisha and came to insinuate that he had given order to the prophet, to take his place. And this insinuation baseless, meant that they, the youth, lost respect for the one who was chosen by heaven to continue the work begun by Elijah. Many parents still give bad example to children at home when they speak evil of church leadership, or other siblings in general. And children of parents who hear bad comments against those people lose respect for them and lose interest in God's house or their preachers.Parents. For the love you have for her soul and for the souls of your children, do not let anyone's life is commented wickedly in your house. You will be collaborating with the destruction of the most precious possession one can have on this earth, it is the reputation and destroying his own faith and the faith of their children.
h) God sometimes acts so foreign to our understanding. He is love, and does not want to destroy anyone, however, to save others, he acts very harshly in some cases, to teach lessons eloquent of his dislike for some situations. So it was with Nadab and Abihu, with Ananias and Sapphira, with Uzzah, who put his hand on chest and died, and also with those young people. Henceforth never dared anyone to doubt the word slander or the servant of the Servant of God Deus.Diz: "Even the kindness must have its limits. The authority should be maintained by a firm severity, or will be met with mockery and contempt. The so-called tolerance, flattery and indulgence, used toward youth by parents and caregivers, is one of the worst evils that can befall them. In every family, firmness, decision, positive requirements, are essential. "Ditto. Pg. 236.
i) Elisha was a type of Jesus. His job was to preach, teach, (ran three schools) and heal. He even raise the dead. The same work of Jesus. He was the successor of Elijah, and Jesus was the successor of John the Baptist, according to Elias. Jesus multiplied the loaves, and Elisha multiplied the cruse of oil. Jesus walked on the water and Elisha made an ax float.
j) He represented Jesus in everything. However its beginning was simple and humble. He was great because he learned obedience in small things.
k) If we want a life of results to God, we do like that prophet, who in the humility of his office, carrying water to wash the feet of the prophet Elijah, became one of the most important men of all time.
