The arithmetic DE FELIPE

Pastor Manoel da Silva Barbosa

John 6: 1-15 Matthew 14: 13-21
Two events preceded this miracle
The first in relation to the apostles, the second nationwide.
The first was the return of the apostles of his first missionary journey without the presence of Jesus.
At any given time learning from the apostles, Christ sent on a training mission, kind of stage, and recommended that did not take no food, no money, who announce the Gospel and survive at the expense of charity from listeners.
He told them that in the city that were not received, which would beat the dust from shoes and seek another city.
They were. They did everything as they were commanded. Now were back, full of news and anxious to tell Jesus, the experiences of the trip. Mark 6: 7-13
In the week when the disciples returned from the trip, something happened that shook the country. John the Baptist was murdered.
John the Baptist was the most respected of Palestine, both by the people and by religious and political leaders of the country. The people who saw John in the hope of liberation from political oppression of Rome was disappointed, without having to appeal to, was like sheep without a shepherd, since his death, was the end of his hopes.
Now Jesus left. Where is it? Jesus was always traveling for some country town, it was hard to find it. However, the news ran that week, he had just returned from traveling and had gone to a retreat with his disciples, for there were boat bands Mountains Bethsaida.
A large crowd came seeking Jesus. We walk. And when Jesus came moonlight or the retreat, many people already waiting, people from all the towns of vizinhança.Marcos 6:33.
Jesus was sorry for those people, because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he healed them all illnesses and then began to teach them.
 V. 34
When approaching noon, the disciples were tired and seeing that the cult was taking too long, caught the attention of Jesus to advance the hour, reminded him that the people were hungry and there was nowhere nearby to buy food, so he had to end the meeting and liberate the people back home.
Jesus replied. Give them something to eat yourselves. Mk 6:37.
Philip argued that even if buy two hundred pennyworth of bread would not be enough to each win a piece. However Jesus gave him no more attention and continued his work.
John reports that Jesus only wanted to try it because he knew what was about to do. Jo. 6:6.
It is possible that Philip has left the presence of Jesus, gathered some of his companions and gave them the message.
- The master ordered us to nourish the people
- How? - Someone should have asked - where we get food for both people?
- I do not know - Felipe replied - I have argued with him that two hundred denarii would not be enough to buy bread for each one win a piece. He did not give me more attention and now we have to do something, because you know that when he gives an order has to be obeyed.
- How many are? How many people? - Another asked.
- I do not know. We have to tell.
To facilitate decided to count only the men, then do a calculation estimate of women and children,
After the count found four thousand nine hundred and something, about five thousand. If it were in northeastern Brazil would be fifty thousand people, because that every man is the father of at least ten.
Suppose that, on average, every man has attended there taking only his wife and a son, we would have about fifteen thousand people.
- How much money do you have? -Somebody must have asked.
- We do not know. Let's ask the treasurer.
The miracles which Jesus did, he did not charge anything, they put the grateful people, brought freewill offerings, which were used in the feeding group, and Judas was the one who was in charge of keeping the bag of money. We ask him.
- Judas master commanded us to buy food for the people and we want to know how much money is in cash.
- Do not have any money. -He answered.
And it was not even because that bag kept any money, and John who knew him well, says even the reason.
He was a thief and stole the money that people donated. John 12:6.
Felipe should have told the secretary of the meeting that made the report. He notes there.
One. No money
2nd. It's too crowded.
3rd. Being too late to go back and buy the city bringing the loaves
4th. We will not find any bread bakery with both available to sell. Any bakery would take at least a month to make both bread
5th. Even if we had money and encontrássemos the bread to buy, we would like to bring. So there is only one exit. End the meeting and dismiss the people so that each exit through the villages and buy themselves something to eat. Mc. 6:36.
While discussing the impossibility of fulfilling the command of Jesus, Andrew decided, himself, solve the problem. He left the crowd asking whether anyone there had brought some snacks.
Found a boy who brought home a snack, five loaves and two fish and was so absorbed in listening to Jesus preach that even forgot to eat. Asked by Andrew snack that would be Jesus, and did willingly.
Then Andrew approaches Jesus and says.
"This one guy here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but it is for so many people? Jo. 6:9 ".
Said Jesus. Make the people sit down, because there was much grass in that place. Sat, as the men in number about five thousand. Then Jesus took the loaves, and gave thanks, and distributed them equally between them and also the fish, as wanted. And when they had had enough, Jesus said to his disciples gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. So he did and fill twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten. Job 6:10-13.

Lessons

In this episode we learn some valuable spiritual lessons

Arithmetic

The man sum. God multiplies.
The man never gives sum.
What God gives, and sum left over.
The arithmetic man says. 2 +2 = 4
The Divine arithmetic is: 2 x 2 = 4 or equal to what is necessary

Dar.

When we give to Jesus all benefit. The kid might as well have stayed with the snack, after all, was himself. But it was not selfish. Donated and all were fed, including him. There are many who fail to return to God, tithes and offerings, for fear that this will miss them, however forget that when we give ourselves over to God, he gives us back what we give multiplied.

Obey
God is our duty to obey orders without question, even if we seem difficult or illogical. For Christ's orders some demands that the carnal man, seems pointless. Feed a multitude with only five loaves and two fish is one of them. Felipe discussed was embarrassed. Andrew obeyed satisfied.

Simplicity

Christ could have given the people a rich meal. A varied menu with the finest delicacies. But food prepared merely for the gratification of appetite, it would not have brought any lesson. Through this miracle Christ desired to teach them the lesson of simplicity.
If men today were simple habits, living according to the laws of nature, there would be abundant food supply for all families of the earth. It is selfishness and extravagance of some shortages and misery it brings to others. While some accumulate goods and food than necessary, lack these same goods and food for others.
Christ also wanted to teach his followers that the Christian life is not a life of luxury. By providing a simple meal wanted to teach us to live a simple life, without excess or extravagance.

Waste

After being fed the crowd still left plenty of food. Jesus commanded: "Gather up the fragments that remain that nothing be lost." Joe. 6:12.
These words mean much more than food for the baskets. These words teach us that wanted nothing should be wasted.
Brazil is considered the country's waste. In one construction, for example, lost up to twenty percent of the material used. The words, at a cost of fifty thousand, ten thousand turns rubble. Families there, many of them poor, cooking beyond what they need and throw in the trash that's left. When God's work requires assistance, can never help why not learn to save.
To that nothing be lost. This means that we should not waste time. We need to take the scraps of time. With them, we can learn a new language, a new profession, take a course, read a good book, etc.. We also visit a friend, a patient in the hospital, or take a study. With the flaps of the time we do more than watch TV.

Confidence

The miracle of the loaves teaches us to trust God. When Jesus fed the multitude the food was not there, handy. He did not even know where to draw. But trusted God and the miracle happened.
So it yet. Often we find ourselves in a situation that seems to be no way out, sometimes lack the money, the actual food, and health, but God intervenes and the miracle happens. When we are led to critical situations we must trust God. In every emergency, we must seek the aid of Him who has unlimited resources at their disposal.

Share

Christ received this miracle boy's loaves and the Father's power multiplies them. Conveyed to the disciples, the disciples to the people, and people to each other. So all who are united with Christ receive him the bread of life and transmit to others.

Little things

When the disciples hear the order 'Give them something to eat "all sorts of difficulties arose in their minds. They asked: Where shall we go and buy bread? '.
But what Jesus said? "Give them something to eat." They took what little they had to Jesus, Jesus blessed all ate and ate leftovers.
So it is today. You see a need and ask yourself: What can I do? How to solve? Jesus makes it clear that your small effort will be multiplied, because God will do a miracle.
"Remember this: whoever plant reaps little bit and who reaps plant very much."
Let each one take their offer as decided in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
And God can give much more than you need so that you always have everything you need and even more than is necessary to do all kinds of good works.
As the scripture says, "He gives generously to the poor, and his kindness endures forever."
And God, who gives seed to sow and bread to eat, will also give you all the seeds you need. He will cause them to grow up and give a great harvest as a result of the generosity of you.
He will cause you to be rich so they can always give generously. And so many will thank God that you're offering by sending us.
Because what you do not only help the people of God who are in need, but also causes them to make many prayers of thanksgiving to God. " 2nd. Cor 9: 6-12.
